Self-control is a great and admirable character trait that we all like to possess. It is a quality of successful and seasoned leaders. To possess self-control, one needs strong willpower and inner strength as it can be affected by many factors like stress and exhaustion. Self-control can be in any form like controlling your emotions, reactions, and feelings in day to day lives or stressful disruptive times, overcoming the urge to do something that is clearly not in your best interests. Some examples where self-control can be exercised are over-reacting to things and management of anger, addiction to social media, expense control, staying away from bad vices, eating right, exercising and the list can go on.
Some ways to work on self control are to establish routines, control mind with mind exercises like yoga and meditation, practicing mindfulness with one another .Although it may seem difficult to perfect , knowing that lack of self control only gives temporary relief and happiness and that it is not beneficial in the long run gives one a better perspective. It definitely improves productivity , happiness and quality of life mentally and physically.
