Seasoned Buttermilk

Buttermilk in general, is a great drink to have especially when the weather gets warm .It not only helps cool the body, but has benefits of being a low fat drink .It even aids digestion and improves immunity. Today’s recipe is a twist to the usual drink by adding some flavorful seasonings to make it taste even better. We all know that traditionally buttermilk is obtained from the whey , remnants of churned butter .You could even make butter milk by adding a teaspoon of acid, like vinegar or lemon juice to a cup of milk.

However for this recipe, I used equal ratio of low fat yogurt and water to avoid sourness. The addition of pearl onions is optional. However a crunchy bite of the finely chopped raw pearl onions with a sip, only makes it taste even better. This can be had by itself or even mixed with a bowl of rice .This is a great recipe to try especially in the hot summers.Do read on for the full recipe and hope you will try it out. Happy weekend all!

I’ve never even had buttermilk, let alone with seasonings. It certainly sounds interesting and flavourful, especially with the onion addition. Definitely going to have to try buttermilk one day soon! x
