Chicken Tikka Masala Gravy recipe has grilled marinated chicken with spices in a creamy tomato onion sauce that is loved by one and all.

For Marinating Chicken
  • 1 lb boneless chicken cut into small rectangle pieces
  • tsp  ginger garlic paste
  • ½ tsp  turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp   Kashmiri red chilly powder or to taste
  • ½ tsp  garam masala powder
  • 1 - 2 tbsp  Shaan Tandoori masala powder  optional
  • ½ cup  hung yogurt (Greek yogurt ) The yogurt should be completely drained of water.
  • ½ green bell pepper diced into big triangles
  • ½  onion diced into big triangles
  • ½ lemon juice squeezed
For Roasting and Grinding
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 large  tomatoes
  • 10-12  cashews
  • 1 tsp  Kashmiri Red chilly powder
  • ¼ tsp  garam masala
  • ¼ tsp  salt
For Gravy
  • 2 tbsp  butter
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp  sugar
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 3 tbsp  cream
  • ½ tsp kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves) crushed with your palms
  • ½ cup ½ cup coriander leaves finely chopped
  1. Make a mixture of ingredients in the "For Marinating Chicken" section in a medium bowl.

  2. Add the cut chicken pieces into it .

  3. Marinate for 20 to 30 minutes ,the longer the better.

  4. In a medium sized pan , heat up some butter .

  5. Add the cashews, chopped onions and tomatoes .

  6. Sautee and fry till it is wilted, browned and cooked well.

  7. Add red chilly powder and garam masala .

  8. Add salt to taste , cool and grind to a smooth paste.

  9. Heat some butter or oil in the same pan used to roast the tomatoes and onion gravy.

  10. Add ginger garlic paste .

  11. Sautee till the raw taste goes away.

  12. Add the onion tomato gravy and mix well.

  13. Add red chilly powder ,sugar, salt and garam masala.

  14. Cook till the oil is released from the sides .

  15. Add water as required to loosen up the gravy .

  16. Add grilled chicken pieces and cook for a while.

  17. Add cream and adjust salt as required.

  18. Add the dried fenu greek leaves and mix well.

  19. Switch off flame and add the chopped coriander leaves.

  20. Chicken Tikka Masala is ready to be served .
