Coconut Fudge (Burfi)

A simple and tasty sweet treat for any festive occasion made with grated coconut ,sugar, milk and nuts

  • 2 cups coconut grated (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 to 4 tbsp milk optional
  • 1/8 tsp cardamom powdered
  • 2 tbsp nuts (almonds,pistachios) chopped finely
  1. Grease a small tray with ghee and set aside to transfer after the burfis are cooked

  2. Heat a pan with ghee 

  3. Add the coconut, sugar and milk (if using)

  4. As it cooks and gets sticky with bubbles keep stirring

  5. When most of the moisture leaves add the cardamom powder

  6. Keep stirring till it starts leaving the sides of the pan 

  7. Transfer into a greased tray lined with foil or baking sheet (optional)

  8. Flatten it and garnish with  chopped nuts .

  9. Make small squares using a knife or spatula and wait for it to cool.

  10. After about 15 minutes and as it cools, transfer the squares to an air tight container. Enjoy!
