Why will you love this fudge?

    • Quick & Easy: This recipe comes together effortlessly and especially if you're using frozen grated coconut. We used it in recipes like vazha ila ada, fried modak, 7 cup barfi, and coconut rava laddu. It saves long hours in the kitchen and very simple steps.
    • Incredibly Delicious: Soft, chewy, and bursting with rich coconut flavor, this burfi is irresistibly good. One piece is never enough; you end up craving more.
    • Perfect for Make-Ahead: It stays fresh in an airtight container for 2-3 days at room temperature, and even longer when refrigerated, like the ricotta cheese peda, milk peda, and gujiya, making it ideal for festivals, get-togethers, celebrations, or a quick sweet fix anytime.

    • Ghee (Clarified Butter)

How to make Coconut Burfi Fudge?

There are many ways to make this fudge. Some recipes use condensed milk, and some others require making a sugar syrup and getting to the right consistency before adding the coconut. This recipe, however, uses a very simple process that works out perfectly fine without compromising the taste.

We need frozen grated coconut defrosted to room temperature, sugar, ghee, and milk. Heat them all in a pan till you get the desired consistency. Transfer to a pan, cool, and slice into small squares. The burfis can be topped with finely chopped nuts like pistachios, almonds, or cashews if you like.

    1. Step 4: After some time, most of the moisture is gone, and the fudge starts to leave the sides of the pan. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

    1. Step 6: Press down well and form a rectangular shape. Optionally add nuts and pat it down again. Mark squares with a knife, and let it cool.

    1. Step 7: After the fudge hardens, cut through the squares again.
    1. Step 8: Cool and serve!

You have an awesome-tasting sweet dish in less than 15 minutes without too much effort. There is, of course, the wait time till the marked squares cool and harden. They can be stored in airtight containers, and they taste simply out of this world.

    Useful Tips

    • When using fresh coconut, one must be careful not to grate out the brown portion of the coconut, ensuring the white color of the fudge is retained.
    • Using the freshly grated coconut will, of course, enhance the taste. However, if you want a quick and easy sweet treat in a short amount of time, frozen grated coconut is also a good option.
    • With the easy availability of frozen grated coconut these days, the process of making this sweet dish is even simpler.

    Recipe FAQs

How long does it take for coconut burfi to set?

It may take about one to three hours to fully set. To get neat, burfi shapes or square cuts, first score the surface with your knife to create indentations and then, after it hardens, simply cut along those lines.

What is the shelf life of coconut burfi?

When stored in an airtight container and refrigerated, it can stay fresh for up to two weeks. At room temperature, depending on humidity and weather, it may remain fresh for about three to four days.
