How do you make microwave milk peda(Fudge)?
Microwave the contents
Firstly, the condensed milk and milk powder are mixed well with ghee and heated in the microwave. After the first minute, it will loosen up a bit, After the second minute, depending on the power of your microwave,e always check in 30-second intervals and stir well with a spatula so that it does not burn and cooks evenly.
Shape the pedas
After exactly three minutes, you will see that it forms a dense paste and has lost a lot of moisture. The test to see if it's ready is to drop a little onto a plate and see if you can roll it to form a ball. If it easily does it, then you are done. Transfer to a plate to cool and then roll into peda shapes. Garnish with powdered nuts.
- Step 1: Mix the condensed milk and milk powder with some melted ghee in a bowl.
- Step 2: Microwave for one minute. Stir well and microwave again for another minute.
- Step 3: Keep a close watch, and when the content rises, it is time to add saffron-induced milk and cardamom powder.
- Step 4: Stir well and microwave for another minute. This time, check every 20 to 30 seconds until you reach a minute,e and when it all comes together like a dough. Make sure not to burn it.
- Step 5: Transfer the dough to a flat plate and cool it.
- Step 6: After it cools a bit, apply some ghee on your palms and roll it in between your palms to form a small ball shape and flatten it in the center.
- Step 7: Line it on a plate with parchment paper and transfer it to an air-tight container.
- Step 8: You can also add a few crushed pistachios in the center.
If you love this peda, you will love Ricotta Cheese Peda, rava and coconut ladoo, and Kaju Katli, which are also popular sweets made during festivals.
Useful Tips
- The tricky part is knowing the right consistency when the peda dough is done cooking and ready to be shaped when cooking in the microwave.
- Using more condensed milk can make the dough sticky, and using more milk powder can make it a bit dry and with cracks when rolling into the desired shape.
- The tell-tale sign that the dough is ready to be shaped into peda is when a drop of dough can be easily rolled into a small ball without sticking.
- Cool the dough on a flat plate and take a small scoop from the edges and start rolling it into balls when you can start handling the heat. Apply some ghee in your inner palm so that the dough does not stick to your hands.
- When microwaving, after the second minute, remember to always check in 30-second intervals and stir well with a spatula so that it cooks evenly and does not burn.
Recipe FAQs
This is probably due to using too much-condensed milk compared to milk powder. Ensure to follow the recipe's recommended ratio for the best results.
Using too much milk powder and not enough condensed milk can cause the pedas to turn dry and crumbly. Overheating can also make the mixture harden too quickly, preventing it from holding its shape.
Milk peda can stay fresh for a day at room temperature and for about 5 days in a refrigerator in an air tight container.
