Paneer Tikka pan-grilled is a delicious appetizer for any occasion. Almost everyone loves paneer, especially the kids, and this is such a quick and easy recipe. Most Vegetarians and Non-vegetarians also love this irresistible dish. It is a type of cottage cheese and has a similar texture and taste.
Why you will love this dish?
- This can be done very quickly with all the ingredients readily found in your pantry.
- Tastes very delicious and is a good option for vegetarians.
- The leftovers can be used to make a salad or stuffed into a sandwich or bread.
- The texture of paneer is firm but soft and absorbs spices well; it does not melt like other cheeses is versatile in any of the dishes and especially good for grilling.
Ingredients for the Paneer Tikka
- Paneer: The store-bought Paneer is a good choice. If you can make paneer at home from scratch even better. I haven't tried making it with homemade paneer though.
- Spices: A blend of spices like red chilly powder (use Kashmiri red chilly for color), turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, chaat masala, and dried fenugreek leaves.
- Yogurt: Ensure the whey is drained out so it is quite thick.
- Ginger-Garlic paste: Use fresh for better taste.
- Vegetable oil: This helps the Paneer to not stick to the pan.
- Tandoori Masala: This is optional, I usually add about ½ a teaspoon.
- Salt: As needed.
- Lemon: Juice of half a lemon.
- Pan with ridges: to get the grill effect
How to make Paneer Tikka ?
Marination is the important part, marinate the paneer in the yogurt marinade with spices for at least two hours or overnight. It tastes better if it sits in the marinade longer. The marinade also contains ginger garlic paste along with spices. If you can get Shaan's tandoori masala you do not have to add the other spices in the recipe. However, if it is not available you can also skip it and just use the spices in the recipe.
Steps after Marination
I use my stovetop to grill it and a grill pan with ridges to get the grill marks. Use an oil spray or any other oil that you prefer. Arrange on the pan and allow it to cook on both sides for about 3 to 4 minutes. The outer coating turns out crispy while the paneer remains soft from the inside. It is preferable to make it just before you serve to maintain texture. I get great reviews from everyone for this.

I love paneer but can't buy it ready made where I live. I've been wanting to make some myself and this grilled paneer recipe is inspiring me to do it!
InspiresNish
Ah! I see . I used store bought paneer for my recipe . To make paneer at home is quite simple, by boiling milk , adding about two teaspoon of lemon and straining using a cheesecloth. However it will be easier if you have the ready made paneer . Hope you get to try this sometime. Enjoy! Thank you so much for the comments.
