    Recipe FAQs

Why is my banana bread mushy in the center?

This usually happens when there is a lot of moisture from the ingredients, too many bananas, milk or egg, and is most likely undercooked. You can fix this by baking for some more time until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

How long should banana bread sit in its pan before taking it out?

The bread should sit for about 15 minutes; the longer, the better. It should also be cooled on a cooling rack before being cut into slices. Use a bread knife to cut it with clean edges.

What are the common mistakes when making banana bread?

Using too many bananas or unripe ones, having incorrect measurements of flour, overmixing the batter, and not using fresh baking soda.
