This Tiramisu recipe with eggs is a keeper, simple, delicious, and turns out perfectly every time. As you may already know, Tiramisu is a popular dessert on Italian menus. It is loved by most people, especially chocolate and coffee lovers. The taste is just incredible with layers of ladyfinger biscuits soaked in coffee. This along with layers of whipped cream, mascarpone cheese and toppings of chocolate powder and shavings combined are flawless together. There are many versions of making this luscious dessert. It can be made with eggs, without eggs, and with or without alcohol. However it is made, it always turns out just perfectly.
Earlier I had posted a recipe for a no-bake Tiramisu that does not use eggs or alcohol. If you prefer an eggless Tiramisu version do check it out, it tastes great as well. Today's recipe is also a no-bake version but uses eggs with some slight variations to the original recipe. A very easy-to-make dish and a great dessert for potlucks and get-togethers to impress your guests. If you have all the ingredients, this dessert can be made in no time. It can also be made ahead of time and tastes better when it sits longer in the refrigerator.
Why you will love this?
- A great dessert for parties and get-togethers
- It can be made in advance and refrigerated
- It is very easy to make and needs very little effort
- The melt-in-the-mouth luscious dessert is a treat for chocoholics and coffee lovers alike.
- Tastes better as it is kept longer in the refrigerator
Tiramisu recipe with Eggs - Ingredients
The main ingredient is the Ladyfingers and they are easily available in any grocery store. The oval and long finger-like shaped biscuits are also called sponge biscuits Boudoir or Savoy biscuits. They taste great when soaked in any kind of syrup and are great for making desserts.
Mascarpone cheese is also another important ingredient. You may not find it that easily in all grocery stores. This cheese is made with heavy cream and is a little sweeter and buttery when compared to cream cheese which is made with whole milk with a savory cheese flavor.
The other ingredients that you need are Whipped cream and strong coffee to dip the Ladyfingers.
For those who love a little alcohol in this dish, a couple of tablespoons can be added to the coffee.
We also need egg yolks preferably pasteurized that need to be cooked on a double boiler with sugar.
How to Make Tiramisu with Eggs
Start by making a strong coffee with or without sugar and let it cool. Dip the ladyfingers in coffee and line them in the dessert dish. Boil water in a saucepan. Place a heat-resistant bowl with eggs and sugar on top of the boiling pan with water. Make sure the bowl does not touch the boiling water below. Whisk the egg yolks with sugar continuously and cook till it thickens and the sugar is completely dissolved. Cool it down a bit.
Whisk the whipped cream till you get soft peaks so the texture is creamy. Keep refrigerated until used. Meanwhile, beat the mascarpone with sugar. Add the egg mixture to this and fold gently followed by the whipped cream. This will be used for layering.
There are recipes that just use pasteurized eggs as is without cooking on a double boiler. They whip the eggs well using a stand-in or handheld mixer and keep them aside. It is then added to the whipped mascarpone and whipped cream. However, I prefer to cook the eggs in a double boiler before adding them to the beaten mascarpone and whipped cream.
Layering and assembling
First, the ladyfingers dipped in coffee are lined in the dish. Add a thick layer of the whipped cream, mascarpone, and egg mixture on top of the ladyfingers. Repeat the process of dipping the ladyfingers in coffee and layering. Cover it with another thick coating of the creamy mixture. Refrigerate overnight or at least for about four hours. Garnish just before serving by sieving a little chocolate powder on the top. Decorate with chocolate shavings.

Useful Tips for Making Tiramisu
Powder the sugar that will be used with the egg yolks on a double boiler so the mixture is not grainy at the end of cooking the eggs and sugar. Ensure not to overbeat the Mascarpone cheese as some brands are said to curdle if beaten for long. When folding the whipping cream with mascarpone cheese mix gently taking care not to deflate. The sugar can be adjusted in the coffee and whipped cream as required as some folks prefer that this dessert be not too overly sweet.
Hope you enjoy making and having this dessert. Have a wonderful day!

This looks absolutely delicious! Tiramisu is one of my mum's favourite desserts but I've never been brave enough to attempt it at home - I actually feel I could manage this (although it definitely wouldn't turn out as beautifully neat as this!)
