Tomato and onion soup, or simply tomato soup, is the ultimate comfort in a bowl; it's warm, soothing, and full of rich, homemade flavor. While store-bought soups and instant mixes may be convenient, nothing compares to the depth and freshness of a soup made from scratch with ripe tomatoes, onions, and aromatic spices. Each spoonful brings a perfect balance of tangy, savory goodness that feels both nourishing and satisfying.

Ingredients
- Tomatoes, Onions - large ripe - Pressure cook
- Bay leaves - help enhance flavor and aroma
- Black peppercorns - to give spice to the soup, use as tolerated
- Pantry essentials: Sugar, Salt, butter, Bread slices cut into small squares
- Corn flour slurry - Maida or corn flour mixed with a little water

How to make the Tomato and Onion Soup?
We start by cooking the tomatoes and onions thoroughly in a pressure cooker with bay leaves so they mash and strain easily. Later, add the cornflour and water mixture to thicken the soup and adjust the consistency.
Add peppercorns as desired, depending on your spice tolerance. Kids usually love the croutons fried in butter added to the soup. It adds a special taste to the soup. There are no added colors or spices in this soup, except for pepper and bay leaves.
This soup can be an appetizer, starter, or a light meal or dinner on its own. You can have garlic bread on the side, a slice of pizza made with a vegetarian pizza recipe, or a quick bread pizza.
A perfect treat for the cold winters ahead. Here is another mild soup you may like Phiki Dal (Mild Lentil Soup), and a comforting, creamy pumpkin soup roasted.
