This classic Tiramisu recipe with eggs is simple, delicious, and foolproof. A beloved Italian dessert, it features coffee-soaked ladyfingers layered with a rich mascarpone cream and finished with chocolate shavings and cocoa powder. Whether made with or without eggs or alcohol, Tiramisu is always irresistibly creamy, flavorful, and indulgent; perfect

Earlier, I had posted a recipe for a no-bake Tiramisu that does not use eggs or alcohol. If you prefer an eggless Tiramisu version, do check it out; it tastes great as well. Today's recipe is also a no-bake version, but uses eggs, with some slight variations to the original recipe.

Why will you love this?
- Perfect make-ahead dessert for parties and gatherings; pairs beautifully after a hearty meal. Serve it after a main course like creamy chicken pasta alfredo with roasted veggies and garlic bread.
- Gets even better with time as the flavors deepen in the refrigerator.
- Incredibly easy to make with minimal effort when ingredients are ready. Rich, creamy, and melt-in-the-mouth; pure bliss for coffee and chocolate lovers.
- A crowd-pleaser that looks elegant yet requires no baking.
What goes into this?

- Ladyfingers are the star ingredient of this recipe and are easily available in most grocery stores. These light, airy, finger-shaped sponge biscuits are also known as boudoir or savoiardi. They soak up any syrup or coffee well, making them perfect for layered desserts like tiramisu.
- Mascarpone cheese is also another important ingredient. You may not find it that easily in all grocery stores. This cheese is made with heavy cream and is a little sweeter and buttery when compared to cream cheese, which is made with whole milk with a savory cheese flavor.
- The other ingredients that you need are whipped cream and strong coffee to dip the Ladyfingers.
- For those who love a little alcohol in this dish, a couple of tablespoons can be added to the coffee.
- We also need egg yolks, preferably pasteurized, that need to be cooked on a double boiler with sugar.

Tiramisu Recipe with Eggs - How to Make?
Tiramisu recipe step by step
Start by making a strong coffee with or without sugar, and let it cool. Dip the ladyfingers in coffee and line them in the dessert dish.

- Step 1: Get all the ingredients ready. Prepare the dessert bowl by dusting the bottom with cocoa powder.

- Step 2: Soak the lady fingers in the coffee and layer them one by one.
Bring water to a gentle simmer in a saucepan. Place a heatproof bowl with the egg yolks and sugar over it, ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water. Whisk continuously until the mixture thickens and the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Whip the cream until soft peaks form for a smooth, creamy texture, then refrigerate until needed. In the meantime, beat the mascarpone with sugar until smooth. Gently fold in the cooled egg mixture, followed by the whipped cream, to create a light and luscious filling for layering.

- Step 3: Cook eggs and sugar over a double boiler.

- Step 4: Cream the mascarpone cheese and sugar, and mix them with the egg mixture.

- Step 5: Fold in the whipped cream into the cream cheese and egg mixture without deflating. Spread this on the soaked ladyfingers generously.

- Step 6: Layer another set of soaked lady fingers and top it again with the whipped cream and mascarpone frosting.
Layering and assembling
Begin by quickly dipping the ladyfingers in coffee and arranging them neatly in the dish. Top with a thick, even layer of the mascarpone cream mixture. Continue layering with more coffee-soaked ladyfingers and cream until everything is used up.
Finish with a final, generous layer of the creamy mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors develop. Just before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and finish with chocolate shavings for an elegant touch.

- Step 7: Smooth the top layer.

- Step 8: Refrigerate. Dust with cocoa powder and chocolate shavings, cut into slices, and serve.

Useful Tips
- Dip the ladyfingers quickly, don't soak them too long, or they'll turn mushy.
- Use strong, cooled coffee for the best flavor without making the layers too wet.
- Some recipes use pasteurized eggs without cooking, simply whipping them with a stand or handheld mixer before folding them into the mascarpone and whipped cream. I prefer to cook the eggs gently in a double boiler before combining them with the mascarpone and whipped cream for extra safety and a silky texture.
- Keep the whipped cream chilled in the refrigerator before starting the layering or cooking the eggs. Whip the mascarpone with sugar in advance so it's ready to fold in once the eggs have been heated and cooled.
- When assembling, spread the creamy mixture generously over the coffee-soaked ladyfingers so they absorb all the delicious flavors.
- Make sure the egg mixture has cooled slightly before folding to maintain a smooth texture.
- Whip the cream only to soft peaks to keep the filling light and airy.
- Chill the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, but overnight is best for a deeper flavor.
- Dust cocoa powder just before serving to keep the top fresh and neat.
- Use good-quality mascarpone and cocoa powder for the best taste.
- Powder the sugar that will be used with the egg yolks on a double boiler so the mixture is not grainy at the end of cooking the eggs and sugar.
- Ensure not to overbeat the Mascarpone cheese, as some brands are said to curdle if beaten for too long.
- The sugar can be adjusted in the coffee and whipped cream as required, as some folks prefer that this dessert not be too overly sweet.

Recipe FAQs
You can replace it with chocolate milk or fruit juice if you like. I only used the coffee solution; it's your preference to sweeten it or not.
I prefer cooking the eggs in a double boiler, as in this recipe, although some folks use pasteurized eggs, which may be safe.
Although mascarpone is the best cheese to be used while making Tiramisu, one can substitute it with a combination of cream cheese, heavy cream, and sour cream. It may not taste as rich as the original.
Yes, it can be frozen for up to 3 months. Before serving, thaw in the refrigerator and enjoy.
