How to make Rose falooda?
Rose falooda kit can be purchased from the stores and it has all the ingredients that go in it like the basil seeds, noodles, and rose flavoring for the milk. You can also purchase the items separately.
The rose syrup is the star ingredient of this yummy dessert. I use the Roohafza brand and it tastes great. Some folks also make the syrup from scratch using rose petals. I hope to try that when I have more time. For those of us who are in a time crunch, the store-bought rose syrup is a savior. The other ingredients that make this unique recipe are the 'sabja' seeds or basil seeds. They need to be soaked in water for about four hours to bloom.
There is also a special kind of thin noodles you get when you buy a 'falooda' kit that is used in this recipe. Boil a cup of the falooda noodles for about four minutes and keep it aside. You can also use vermicelli or any other thin noodles that will go with this dessert. Do plan ahead and have the ingredients like cold milk, choice of your favorite vanilla ice cream, chopped fresh or dry fruits of your choice, and nuts like pistachios, and cashew all ready to assemble. You can also top it with dried rose petals so it looks pretty and inviting. Kids may also like strawberry jello included in the layering. Get creative and add whatever you like. Hope you will try this delicious ice cream sundae this summer. Enjoy!
